Food and agribusiness growth centre, Food Innovation Australia Limited (FIAL), has released the 2022 edition of its Celebrating Australian Food and Agribusiness Innovations book, the seventh in the series.

The latest edition showcases businesses striving towards the billions of dollars of opportunity for the sector, as outlined in FIAL’s Capturing the Prize report, which identified 19 growth opportunities with the potential to grow the industry’s annual value-addition capability from its current $61 billion per annum to $200 billion per annum by 2030.

Each case study is categorised under one of the 19 growth opportunity areas, and shows how innovation and collaboration has resulted in the business unlocking value, leading towards success. 

FIAL says from revolutionary packaging creations to edible insects, these stories am to encourage all Australian businesses to continue innovating and find their niche.

Every year, the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) collaborates with FIAL to develop the book, nominating Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Award (PIDA) winners for consideration.

For the 2022 edition, 11 PIDA winners have been recognised: Blue Harvest, Brookfarm, Edgell, Junee Prime Lamb, Kapiris Bros, Melbourne Coffee, Oasis Spices, Pana Organic, Shultz Organic Dairy, Wellman Packaging and Woolworths.

Australian Vintage CEO, Craig Garvin, has been dismissed for conduct the board said, “displayed a lack of judgement and was inconsistent with the values of the company and the high standards expected of its CEO”.

The Victorian government has set out its plan to halve food waste by 2030, with objectives to build a circular economy, find new ways to prevent food waste, and reuse and recycle food to limit its impact.
