The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will be participating in the second National Food Waste Summit in Brisbane on 23-24 November.

Hosted by Fight Food Waste, which incorporates Fight Food Waste CRC and Stop Food Waste Australia, attendees will be able to network with leading industry, government and research experts to help inspire solutions for economic, social and environmental benefits.

The AIP will be speaking on a panel on 24 November entitled Reduce to Nil: Designing out Food Waste.

“The panel discussion will explore zero waste technologies, innovations and initiatives disrupting Australia’s food business-as-usual,” said Nerida Kelton, executive director of the AIP.

“The AIP are a founding partner of Stop Food Waste Australia, a core participant of the Fight Food Waste CRC, and a supporting signatory to the Australian Food Pact. The AIP believes that packaging plays an integral role in minimising food loss and waste across a value chain.”

Joining Kelton on the panel will be Katy Barfield, CEO of Yume; Travis Hatton, manager of business solutions at Sustainability Victoria; and Brooke Donnelly, general manager for sustainability at Coles Group. It will be facilitated by associate professor Simon Lockley, REDUCE program lead at Fight Food Waste CRC.

AIP Save Food Packaging consortium partner, Result Group, and long-standing partner of the Institute, Empauer, will be exhibiting at the summit.
