The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is partnering with the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) to launch the Fundamentals of Packaging Technology course in Australia in 2020. The residential course aims to bring attendees one step closer to becoming a certified packaging professional.

This is the first time the course has been introduced to the Australasia region as a residential course and will be divided into four, two-day semesters throughout the year, with each semester focussing on a specific area of packaging.

Attendees have the option to take the entire course or only semesters relating to a specific subject matter or knowledge gap, which applies to them.

This course is also the basis for the examination side of the Certified Packaging Professional Designation; bringing participants one step closer to becoming an internationally recognised CPP.

Semester one includes topics such as the package development process and market research and printing methods, while semester two will cover corrugated fireboards and boxes, as well as the distribution environment, and protective packaging.

An introduction to polymers, extrusion moulding, flexible packaging and closures will be included in semester three, as well as environmental issues, aerosols, laws and regulations, and packaging software in the final semester.

The Fundamentals of Packaging Technology course will be held in Viewpoint, St Kilda, Victoria on the following dates:

Semester one: April 29-30, 2020

Semester two: July 22-23, 2020

Semester three: September 16-17, 2020

Semester four: November 18-19, 2020
