Tickets are now available for the 2022 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards (PIDA), to be held alongside FoodTech Qld at the Gold Coast on 8 July.

Coordinated by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the annual PIDAs have been established to recognise companies and individuals who are making a significant difference in their field across Australia and New Zealand.

The PIDAs are also the exclusive feeder program for the ANZ region for the prestigious WorldStar Packaging Awards, run by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), and all 2022 PIDA winners will be automatically eligible for entry into 2023’s WorldStar. 

The Packaging Innovation & Design of the Year company awards recognise organisations that have designed innovative packaging within six categories:

  • Food Packaging Design of the Year
  • Beverage Packaging Design of the Year
  • Health, Beauty & Wellness Packaging Design of the Year
  • Domestic & Household Packaging Design of the Year
  • Labelling & Decoration Design of the Year
  • Outside of the Box Design of the Year 

There are six special awards also available:

  • Marketing Design of the Year
  • Accessible & Inclusive Packaging Design of the Year
  • Save Food Packaging Design of the Year
  • Sustainable Packaging Design of the Year
  • Industry Packaging Professional of the Year
  • ABA Scholarships

Independent beverage solutions provider, Refresco, has signed a 10-year prelease for the 25,500 square metre ground floor of Gateway Capital’s new multi-level industrial facility in Revesby, Sydney.

Queensland’s container refund scheme operator, Container Exchange (COEX), has announced an extension to payment terms for beverage manufacturers following industry consultation on the scheme’s pricing framework.

George Weston Foods has completed a $130 million redevelopment of its Tip Top Bakeries facility in Canning Vale, Western Australia. The upgrade follows a fire in October last year, which led to a temporary bread shortage across the state.
