Woolworths is rolling out a new reusable bag range featuring a click mechanism that keeps bags open during packing, aimed at making self-checkout and Scan & Go shopping easier.

Iconic designs: Click & Stay bags collection

The Click & Stay bags are designed to fit inside Woolworths’ green trolleys and stay upright while being filled, addressing a request from customers using self-checkout or trialling Scan & Go in 30 stores.

The collection includes three designs depicting Australian icons, such as Cape Byron Lighthouse, Bungle Bungles Purnululu National Park, and The Dish. The ‘Cockatoo & Wattle’, ‘Coffee & Finger Bun’, and ‘Famous Aussie Things’ prints also reference items such as fairy bread, quokkas and the Hills Hoist.

Rhonda Ma, bag expert at Woolworths, said the bags were intended to be functional for everyday use, including picnics, work commutes and beach trips, while also addressing a “challenge for some shoppers” by staying open during packing.

The Click & Stay range will be available nationally within the week, priced at $4 per bag, and joins Woolworths’ existing reusable bag range including Green Totes, Chiller Bags, Art Bags and foldable ‘fruit’ fabric bags.

The goal is to deliver an outcomes-based practical strategy that is not “a strategy for strategy’s sake” that sits untouched on a shelf, the government said.
