BioPak has appointed Saxon Wright as chief sustainability officer, a newly created role focused on leading the company’s sustainability strategy.

The company said the position will centre on evidence-based innovation, customer collaboration and environmental outcomes, as demand grows for more responsible packaging solutions.

Guy Brent, CEO at BioPak, said the appointment reflects the company’s focus on strengthening its role in sustainable packaging and supporting businesses to transition to alternatives that meet both environmental and commercial needs.

“Sustainability has always been at the heart of BioPak, and Saxon’s appointment is a natural progression of that commitment,” said Brent.

Wright founded Huskee, which became part of the BioPak Group in 2024. Brent said Wright’s experience in reuse and sustainable consumption will support the integration of shared capabilities across the business.

“Saxon’s leadership will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen the BioPak Group’s impact and shape the future of sustainable packaging in partnership with our customers,” he said.

Wright said the role will focus on building on the company’s existing approach through “discipline, transparency and accountability”.

“BioPak has built a strong reputation by challenging the status quo and finding more sustainable alternatives and solutions to traditional packaging,” he said. “Our responsibility now is to continue building on that 20-year legacy… ensuring our sustainability commitments translate into real outcomes.”

A key part of the role will involve working with customers to develop packaging approaches suited to their specific requirements, as regulation and consumer expectations continue to change.

“Sustainability isn’t one-size-fits-all,” Wright said. “The most effective solutions start by understanding our customers' sustainability philosophy or approach and working together to create practical pathways that deliver meaningful impact.”

Wright also linked sustainability outcomes with business growth, saying expanding access to alternative packaging will increase overall impact.

“Growth gives us the opportunity to create greater impact,” he said. “The more businesses we support, the greater the change we can drive.”

The role will also include further integration of the group’s portfolio, including Huskee, decentpackaging and Bygreen, with a focus on collaboration across the business.

BioPak said the appointment supports its ongoing focus on aligning products with evolving government legislation and industry requirements.
