BioPak has appointed Guy Brent as chief executive officer, effective 2 February 2026, marking a new phase of growth for the global sustainable foodservice packaging group.

Brent joins BioPak after 14 years with Woolworths Group, where he held a number of senior leadership roles across food, beverage and retail. His career includes leading well-known brands such as Cellarmasters, Pinnacle Drinks and BWS, and most recently serving as managing director of the Woolworths Food Company.

In that role, Brent led large-scale food production and foodservice operations, with responsibility for private-label brand strategy, product development and supplier collaboration – including the integration of sustainable packaging solutions across complex supply chains.

BioPak’s board described the appointment as a pivotal moment for the business.

“We are delighted to welcome Guy Brent to BioPak as CEO,” the board said. “His people-first leadership style, strategic focus and proven ability to deliver strong commercial outcomes position him well to lead the business through its next phase of growth.”

As CEO, Brent will be responsible for driving BioPak’s strategic expansion, innovation agenda and operational performance, while continuing the company’s purpose-led advocacy to accelerate circular economy outcomes and systemic change in packaging.

The company said its next chapter will focus on scaling BioPak’s sustainability leadership globally, while remaining anchored to its founding mission of developing regenerative, circular solutions that give materials new life at every stage of the value chain.

Commenting on his appointment, Brent said he was excited to join BioPak at a time of strong momentum.

“I’m honoured and incredibly proud to be appointed CEO of BioPak,” he said. “BioPak’s genuine commitment to sustainability, combined with its track record of leading positive change in the packaging industry, is compelling. It’s rare to find a business where purpose and performance are so closely aligned.”

“With a strong foundation and clear purpose, I look forward to working with the team to deliver long-term value for customers, partners and broader stakeholders, while building on the company’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to protecting the environment.”

Brent succeeds former CEO and co-founder Gary Smith, who has concluded his executive role. Smith, along with co-founder Richard Fine, established BioPak in 2006 with the belief that business can be a force for good.

Today, BioPak is recognised globally for helping foodservice and hospitality businesses transition to lower-impact, circular packaging solutions.
