With a local team, the company partners with some of Europe and the UK’s most reputable machinery manufacturers, providing Australian and New Zealand manufacturers with access to world-class equipment combined with local service and support.

Nupac’s partners include global leaders such as Syntegon (previously Bosch Packaging Technology), SN Maschinenbau, Statec Binder, Russell Finex, R. Deckert, Rotzinger, and AZO, offering equipment from vertical form fill seal and flow wrapping machines, to cartoning and case packaging machinery. These partnerships have enabled Australian food and pharmaceutical manufacturers to implement some of the most advanced packaging and processing technologies available, supporting productivity, innovation and sustainability within the Australian and New Zealand markets.

One key aspect of Nupac’s identity is its relationship with customers and commitment to finding solutions, no matter the challenge or the size. From stand-alone to complete turnkey systems, Nupac combines local and international expertise to tailor specific solutions to the local needs of each individual customer, providing complete support from small manufacturers up to the likes of Nestlé, Mars, McCains, Snackbrands, Pfizer and more.

“We understand the unique challenges that Australian manufacturers face. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to provide not just cutting-edge technology from our European partners, but also the local support and expertise that’s critical for success,” says Peter Pontikis, managing director of Nupac Industries.

Supporting sustainability

Working with its international partners, Nupac has been able to support innovation in technology for local manufacturers, including transitions to sustainable materials seeing significant shifts in local operations. One recent example of this is Syntegon’s Paper-ON-form technology, which provides a sustainable packaging solution by retrofitting existing flow wrappers to handle paper packaging instead of plastic.

In 2023, Nupac successfully implemented this solution in Mars Australia’s production facility, retrofitting the company’s existing Syntegon flow wrappers to handle paper packaging. This was a significant step forward for Mars, allowing the company to produce high-speed paper packaging for its bars, reducing plastic usage without any loss in efficiency.

The project is expected to remove 360 tonnes of plastic from Mars’ value chain – a clear testament to the potential of sustainable innovation in the packaging sector.

Similarly, Nupac facilitated the first global trial of paper-packaged Kit Kats for Nestlé, helping the company transition to more environmentally-friendly packaging materials.
