Plasdene Glass-Pak in New Zealand has acquired the Auckland-based Glass Packaging Division of Wainhouse Distribution.
Plasdene Glass-Pak’s portfolio covers wholesale rigid packaging sourcing, supply and distribution, including glass and plastic bottles, jars, containers, closures, cartons and gift packaging.
The company’s extensive client base crosses a broad range of industries, including food, beverage, wine, pharmaceutical healthcare, industrial and agriculture.
Plasdene Glass-Pak is proudly owned and operated by two generations of The Pearson family. Daughters Jayne and Kacy hold senior positions as company directors and co-general managers, alongside founding stakeholders Ken and Margaret Pearson.
Originally Renshaws Glass, and founded in 1983 by John and Sonia Wainhouse, Wainhouse Distribution has supplied rigid packaging to NZ businesses and end users for over 41 years.
The Australian-based Plasdene Glass-Pak connection with NZ spans more than 35 years, having proudly supplied glass, plastic and metal packaging products into NZ, through partner and sub-distributor Wainhouse Distribution.

Already a formidable rigid packaging supplier with a 7-branch warehouse and distribution footprint across Australia, and a deep history in service and supply excellence, the establishment of a NZ site makes Plasdene Glass-Pak a true ANZ business, delivering a 10,000 SKU product portfolio and global sourcing capabilities to the NZ market.
With more than 30 years’ experience at the helm of the Wainhouse Distribution Packaging Division, Plasdene Glass-Pak is delighted that Sean Wainhouse, son of founders John and Sonia, will continue with Plasdene Glass-Pak NZ, as its newly appointed country manager.
“The Pearson family are thrilled to announce the launch of Plasdene Glass-Pak NZ. The country has always been part of our long-term strategy, and the timing was right to make this acquisition of our long-term sub-distributor happen,” said Ken Pearson, managing director and founder.
“We want to acknowledge our good friends, the Wainhouse family across the ditch for more than 30 years’ of business partnership with Plasdene, which has allowed us a solid foundation from which to grow business in NZ directly.
“NZ customers will now have direct access to a global network of quality packaging options, world-class infrastructure support leveraging the buying power of Plasdene, with the same localised presence and NZ market expertise Kiwi clients know and trust.”
According to Sean Wainhouse: “Plasdene Glass-Pak NZ will be like Wainhouse Distribution, but to the power of 10. I’m excited for the future, and we look forward to being of service in our new Plasdene colours going forward.”
This latest acquisition by Plasdene is the first internationally, and follows the purchase of Vinkem Packaging in 2024, and major acquisition of Silverlock Packaging 10 years prior, making Plasdene Glass-Pak arguably the largest, independent, family-owned packaging distribution business in ANZ region.
“We remain steadfast in our belief in the company’s future across ANZ, and we’re excited for the opportunities ahead, as we continue to invest in our growth, success, and long-term sustainability,” added Pearson.
“As we look ahead, our focus remains on driving continuous improvement client innovation, supply continuity with increased inventory holdings, and exceptional service, and we can’t wait to demonstrate to our NZ clients how we work and live by our company-wide catch-cry of ‘Partner with Us and Grow’.”
While the business is busy preparing the new Auckland-based site ready for warehousing and trade, Plasdene Glass-Pak NZ will be temporarily operating from the existing Wainhouse Distribution premises in Auckland, with an expected transition timeframe of early June 2025.
