Tetra Pak has unveiled its next-generation Automation and Digitalisation (A&D) portfolio, Tetra Pak Factory OS, positioning the platform as a major step forward in enabling AI-ready, highly efficient production for the global food and beverage sector.

Launched at Gulfood Manufacturing in Dubai, the modular, open and scalable smart-factory suite aims to remove barriers that have slowed automation uptake across F&B operations.

According to a Tetra Pak comparative study, highly automated beverage factories deliver 20 per cent higher overall equipment effectiveness, 45 per cent lower product waste and 20 per cent fewer packaging line stops than less automated sites. However, many producers still face hurdles such as limited digital expertise and the challenge of sourcing end-to-end automation solutions from a single supplier.

A unified view of the factory

At the core of the portfolio is a new data integration platform that connects equipment and systems across the factory floor, transforming siloed information into a unified, real-time view. Powered by open technologies, strong analytics and industry-standard protocols, the platform is designed to support consistent product quality, optimise performance, and reduce water, energy and utility consumption.

Sean Sims, vice president of Automation & Solutions at Tetra Pak, said producers are operating under unprecedented pressure to do more with less.

“Today, food and beverage producers are under enormous pressure. They must deliver more with fewer resources – less water, less energy, less waste – all while maintaining quality and reducing costs,” Sims said.

“Our next-generation portfolio transforms complexity into clarity. By combining contextualised data – the foundation of effective AI adoption – with high performing equipment automation, Tetra Pak Factory OS gives food and beverage producers the confidence to act decisively in an increasingly volatile market.”

Built for the factory of the future

The portfolio has been designed for scalability, enabling manufacturers to adopt automation at their own pace. Producers can start with small, targeted upgrades and expand over time, tailoring the system to their individual needs.

Tetra Pak Factory OS also standardises data collection across equipment from any supplier or era, ensuring compatibility and future-proofing investments.

Key features include:

  • a unified user experience for smooth interaction across lines, equipment and control rooms;
  • digital applications for real-time monitoring of materials, quality, production and asset performance; and
  • enterprise-level insights through contextualised, factory-wide data integration.

Charles Brand, executive vice president of Processing Solutions & Equipment at Tetra Pak, said the platform represents the company’s long-term vision for F&B manufacturing.

“Tetra Pak Factory OS is more than a technology portfolio – it embodies our vision for the future of food and beverage manufacturing. Designed for the next decade and beyond, it enables producers to build the factory of the future, where resilience, efficiency and sustainability go hand in hand,” Brand said.

Ecosystem-backed, industry-focused

Developed in collaboration with Accenture, and supported by partners such as Siemens, Rockwell Automation and Inductive Automation, the platform draws on a strong ecosystem of digital and automation expertise. Tetra Pak says its deep food-production know-how is what ultimately ensures these technologies deliver meaningful improvements on the factory floor.

Tetra Pak Factory OS is now available globally, following its debut at Gulfood Manufacturing in Dubai.
