Caps, closures and cups

At Drinktec (15–19 September), Amcor will highlight packaging for the beverage sector, including tethered and sports closures designed to meet EU regulations requiring caps to remain attached to bottles up to 3 litres. The tethered closures, suitable for cold fill and aseptic applications, aim to support recyclability and reduce litter.

Also on display will be reusable polypropylene cups and lids for foodservice businesses. The cups are dishwasher safe, lightweight and designed with heat-insulating ribs for grip and comfort. They can be recycled where infrastructure exists.

Sarah de la Mare, product line director, closures for Amcor, said, “At Drinktec, we’ll show how more sustainable materials and smart design can work together to create packaging that appeals to consumers while meeting regulatory challenges.”

At Fachpack (23–25 September), Amcor will present packaging solutions for food, non-food and industrial applications. Highlights include lightweight food containers, reusable cups, and closure innovations such as the Modena Flip Top tamper-evident closure for sauces.

The stand will also feature CleanStream technology, Amcor’s mechanically recycled polypropylene suitable for contact-sensitive applications. Flexible packaging on display includes recycle-ready mono-material films, ventilated Form-Fill-Seal films with recycled content, and cling film alternatives.

Philipp Richter, sales director food central Europe for Amcor rigid packaging solutions international, said, “Sustainability remains a major consideration for companies in all their packaging developments, but at the same time, elements such as functionality, consumer convenience, aesthetics and branding are also essential requirements.”

Other launches include the Lipcare Next Generation applicator, mono-material polypropylene lipsticks suitable for top filling, and new travel sizes in the Exclusive Stick and Refill range, which reduce weight and support reuse. Amcor will also demonstrate its deo roll-ons featuring patented ball technology for consistent quality and minimal material waste.
