ABB has launched two families of collaborative robots at AUSPACK this week, with Peter Bradbury, channel manager, Robotics delighted by the leads he has received so far.

"Another highlight of our stand is our safe move software palletising robots, which provide a fenceless robotic system, and are run on scanners to ensure the safety of workers," said Bradbury, explaining that the safe move software enables up to 16 zones around the robot.

Also on display at the ABB stand is the 300 family of robots as well as a magnetic conveying system, where the shuttles are all individually programmed and individually controlled. In addition to the products ABB has promoted on its stand, Bradbury says the company is also supporting and assisting its eight partners at the show, many of which have ABB robots on their stands.

Commmenting on his experience of the show so far, Bradbury says,"It has been fantastic, and great to be able to escape the four walls after being locked in for the last two years.

"I've had literally dozens of people come through this morning. And it's been such a high for me to discuss the palletising and collaborative robots, and demonstrate them. These things you can't really do on the phone. You know, you can send people electronic information and links, but there is nothing like experiencing the face to face contact here that we've been missing for the last two years."

One of the most popular products on the ABB stand so far has been the palletising robots, says Bradbury.

"It's often the first robot that a company will buy – it's just an easy one to to get in. They run forever, are simple to use,  and easy to justify because the return on investment typically is very high."

Bradbury says he has also had good feedback on the collaborative robots on show.

"These products were launched last year and face to face feedback from people has been high."

All in all, Bradbury is buoyed by the show so far.

"I think we will be delighted by the results, at the end of the show. The leads that have received in the last couple of days, have been very high, and the quality of the leads been exceptional as well.

"So many key people from particularly the food and beverage industry have come to AUSPACK and we've seen all our major clients, and there's been a lot of new opportunities, with new people visiting our stand too."

'That's really why we are here," he concludes.
