A home-compostable flexible pouch developed by TIPA Compostable Packaging in partnership with Pawniolo Pets and WildKind Packaging has received second place in the Sustainable Design category at the DIELINE Awards 2026.
The pouch was created using TIPA’s proprietary bio-based films and designed as a fully home-compostable flexible packaging solution for Pawniolo Pets’ pet treats and food. According to the companies, it delivers similar durability and protection to conventional plastic packaging, without generating microplastics or additional waste.
TIPA’s films also support high-quality printing, while WildKind Packaging enables smaller production volumes, allowing Pawniolo Pets to communicate its brand story without changing material requirements or order quantities.
Pawniolo Pets produces pet treats and food using byproducts from local Hawaiian cattle farming, with a focus on ensuring no waste from that process. Operating on a small island with limited capacity for waste collection, the company required a packaging solution that could work in small quantities while supporting its sustainability objectives.
The collaboration between TIPA and WildKind Packaging was used to develop a home-compostable flexible pouch intended to meet those requirements.
The DIELINE Awards recognise innovation and creativity in consumer packaging design. The competition highlights brands working in packaging development. Winners were announced and showcased at LUXE PACK New York on 6–7 May 2026.
