The upcoming Circular Economy Symposium, themed Messaging Sustainability in a Circular Economy, will bring together government leaders, regulators, industry experts and communication specialists to examine how environmental claims are made and how they can be communicated more accurately and effectively.

Organised by Empauer, the panel discussion and best-practice sessions take place at the Royal Society of Victoria in Melbourne at 11am on Thursday 23 October. Speakers will focus on emerging challenges in sustainability communications, including compliance and the growing demand for credible environmental messaging.

With packaging a key focus area in current circular economy discussions, speakers will explore how transparent claims and accurate information can support both consumer trust and regulatory compliance.

The line-up includes:

  • John Gertsakis, director at the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence
  • Prof. Simon Lockery, professor within the School of Design at RMIT University and national reduce program leader, End Food Waste CRC
  • Richard Ralphsmith, co-founder and executive creative director at DPR&Co Advertising
  • Erin Turner, CEO at the Consumer Policy Research Centre
  • Shaneel Deo, managing director at Milliken
  • Ainsley Simpson, CEO at Seamless
  • Dr Pablo Juliano, head of the Food Processing and Supply Chains Group at CSIRO
  • Cameron Dellar, sustainable packaging manager at MasterPet (EBOS Group)

The organisers say the event aims to “foster collaborative dialogue” and “examine how environmental communications and product claims are currently positioned, and how they can be implemented more effectively.”
