SportsCo has partnered with Australian retail packaging manufacturer PaperPak to introduce paper carry bags across 28 stores nationwide.

As single-use plastic bans roll out across Australia, SportsCo says it has swiftly transitioned from plastic to sustainable paper carry bags to remain at the forefront of impending legislation.

According to the retailer, partnering with an Australian business and supporting local manufacturing was important to SportsCo, which approached PaperPak, a division of Detmold Group, for a sustainable solution.

The range provided by PaperPak achieves SportsCo’s sustainability objectives, including reducing single-use plastic usage and sourcing products from reputable, certified suppliers.

SportsCo’s new paper carry bags can be recycled by customers at home through their kerbside bin.

“PaperPak is very proud to support SportsCo in transitioning from plastic to paper. These bags are made right here in our Australian manufacturing facility using premium kraft recycled paper,” said Nicholas Hoskins, general manager at PaperPak.

“We knew that our paper solutions would provide the functionality that SportsCo needed. The fact these bags can be recycled via kerbside collection is even better.”

The new sustainable paper carry bags will soon be available with any purchase at SportsCo.
