Packaging policy and design will be among the key topics at ReGen 2025, with sessions featuring Chris Foley from the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) and Lars Jung from Planet Protector Packaging.

The two-day speaker program, which will take place at ICC Sydney on 23–24 July, will be free to attend for registered visitors.

Previously known as the Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo (AWRE), ReGen 2025 will bring together more than 50 speakers from government, industry, research, and community sectors to discuss Australia’s circular economy. Topics will range from packaging and product design to procurement, construction, textiles, governance, and Indigenous knowledge systems.

The program has been developed in collaboration with Planet Ark, the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association (WCRA), and the ReGen Advisory Board.

Ali Lawes, event director at ReGen, said the line-up reflects the input of multiple contributors and aims to produce “tangible solutions” to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

The speaker line-up includes:

  • Heinz Schandl from CSIRO, speaking on national metrics to achieve double circularity.
  • Amy Cobb from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, discussing federal governance frameworks.
  • Dr Kate Wruck, 2025 Young Australian of the Year, on the role of Indigenous knowledge.
  • Courtney Holm from fashion label ABCH and Anne-Marie Cheney from eBay Australia, covering reuse and innovation in fashion.
  • Jeff Morgan from Hassell and Anthony Carbone from Kennett Builders on circular construction initiatives

The event will also feature the Innovation Pitch Fest, sponsored by Coles, where Australian startups and scale-ups will present new circular economy solutions.

ReGen is organised by Diversified Australia and positions itself as a platform for resource sector collaboration and progress toward national circularity goals. Full speaker and session details are available at regenexpo.com.au.
