​​Amcor’s CleanStream recycling technology has been recognised with a Luxe Pack Green Award in the CSR Initiative category at Luxe Pack in Monaco.

CleanStream mechanically processes household polypropylene (PP) waste into packaging suitable for contact-sensitive products, such as those used in beauty and personal care. Using AI, the technology separates and purifies the polymer to achieve high material quality, allowing it to replace a larger share of virgin resin in packaging.

According to Amcor, CleanStream enables brands to create packaging with consistent performance and appearance while reducing carbon impact. The company said this supports customers’ efforts to comply with legislation such as the Plastics Packaging Tax and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

The objective behind CleanStream was to create the ideal post-consumer recycled PP that could be made available at scale to meet the growing demand from companies throughout the UK and Europe.”

Amouroux added that the technology is already being used by several leading brands.

Amcor’s CleanStream facility in Leamington Spa recycles nearly 40 per cent of all collected and sorted PP waste in the UK. The company has secured access to 50,000 tonnes of curbside-collected PP waste annually, equivalent to more than one billion individual packaging itemsto support its global sustainability objectives.

Amcor said CleanStream adds value to waste PP by keeping materials in circulation and reducing landfill, incineration, and environmental leakage.
