Amcor is opening a global call for startups to take part in its Amcor Lift-Off: Rigids challenge, focusing on solutions in rigid packaging and related systems.

The initiative forms part of Amcor Lift-Off, a programme led by the company’s Corporate Venturing & Open Innovation team, which connects startups with Amcor’s R&D, commercial and venturing teams to explore potential collaboration and investment opportunities. The company says previous Lift-Off initiatives have led to partnerships in areas including advanced materials, artificial intelligence and recycling technologies.

The Rigids challenge is focused on identifying technologies across a range of packaging areas, including:

  • shelf-life indicators
  • injection moulding processes and platforms
  • recyclable barrier technologies
  • fibre-based packaging
  • dispenser and applicator systems
  • retort and pasteurisation solutions
  • smart packaging
  • rigid and flexible hybrid systems, including refill and reuse models
  • recycling, sorting and decontamination technologies
  • artificial intelligence and machine learning applications

Amcor says it is looking for solutions that can improve performance, support circularity, enhance consumer experience or enable new business models across the packaging value chain.

Startups applying must have technologies validated beyond early pilot stage and show commercial potential.

The programme will run in three phases: applications open until 8 June 2026, followed by screening and feedback until 20 June 2026, and a virtual pitch day on 30 June 2026.

Selected startups will be invited to present to Amcor’s R&D, business and corporate venturing teams. Successful participants may progress to discussions around commercial partnerships, pilot projects and investment opportunities, with outcomes measured through strategic adoption and scalability.
