Brand owners and manufacturers will serve on the steering committee for touchpoint packaging at drupa 2020, working to understand the trends that will shape packaging production.

Agfa, BOBST, Danone, ESKO, Heidelberg, HP Indigo, Kurz, Nestlé and Siegwerk will make up the committee, representing a broad spectrum of packaging from equipment makers through to print buyers.

“From new substrates, customisation, reduced environmental impact, connected packaging and more, the drupa visitors will discover amazing solutions,” said a statement from drupa. “The intent is not to focus on what is already being done but to showcase inspiring new cases addressing brand challenges and pointing out meaningful directions where packaging can go.”

As packaging is the largest print market and still growing, drupa is placing more emphasis on touchpoint packaging following its successful premiere at the 2016 expo. The goal for the steering committee will be to determine how today’s societal trends will influence packaging production into the future.

“Global population enrichment and growth, new customer living styles and expectations for more relevant packages, growing requirements for reduced environmental impacts, and digitalisation of all kinds are all forces driving and shaping the packaging evolution,” the statement said.

The organisers of the world’s biggest printing trade show say the touchpoint packaging experience will be a “must-see” in 2020, with guided tours, lectures and samples.

“In a nutshell, drupa touchpoint packaging 2020 will display the latest solutions and applications and show how future packaging and design will deliver additional value, stimuli and growth opportunities in a fast-changing world,” the statement said.
