Bondi Sands will use airless packaging for its new SPF range, as it partners with international beauty packaging manufacturer Quadpack to develop the eco-friendly solution. It is the first collaboration between the brand and the packaging supplier.

The Australian beauty brand, known for its self-tanning and sun care products, has introduced its new Hydra UV Protect product in a pack made entirely from PP and PE, both materials that are recyclable in kerbside collection.

The pack also features a recyclable airless pump with a metal-free mechanism, while the product itself is PETA certified and reef-friendly.

“Consumers want to reduce their footprint and sometimes find this very difficult,” Bondi Sands co-founder Blair James said.

“We, as a brand, must invest in sustainable and innovative packaging, making it easier for consumer to recycle.”

Quadpack country director Australia & New Zealand Jason Smith told PKN this was the first collaboration between the brand and the packaging supplier, with plans for other projects also in the pipeline.

"Some of the fantastic benefits of airless products include dosage control, formulation stability, and the ability for consumers to dispense the product at all angles," said Smith.

"This results in an already excellent consumer experience, which is only further elevated thanks to the metal-free mechanism, with users knowing with confidence they can responsibly dispose of the pack via kerbside recycling, an option usually impossible with Airless pump bottles."

"We look forward to working more with Bondi into the future, as we continue to add to our Positive Impact Packaging portfolio and bring the next frontier of sustainable packaging to the beauty industry."

The Bondi Sands Hydra UV Protect has now launched in Australia, with the UK and the USA soon to follow in the future.
