Fresh-Lock will showcase flexible packaging closures containing at least 25 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) content at Pack Expo International in Chicago from 18–21 October.

The closures include options for recyclable PE pouches, high-holding force applications, pre-applied zipper formats and slider packages.

Todd Meussling, director of business development and sustainability at Fresh-Lock, said evolving state extended producer responsibility (EPR) requirements were increasing pressure on brands to change their packaging portfolios.

“For reclosable flexible packaging, the right closure can support these changes while maintaining the functionality and convenience that consumers expect,” Meussling said.

Fresh-Lock is also developing press-to-close zippers that can be sealed to emerging paper pouch structures, responding to demand for curbside recyclable packaging and reduced plastic use.

The company will also display fully recyclable, reduced-scale sliders, including its Ultra slider, as well as Child-Guard Edge, a child-resistant closure for products such as medications, vitamins and supplements.

Fresh-Lock will exhibit at booth S-3907.
