A one-stop shop for tray sealing and packing solutions has been launched by Packaging Automation and Perfect Automation on the back of their new partnership.

Called Perfectseal, the package includes a machine, as well as packaging and service support for one monthly payment.

A full range of trays is offered, including cost-effective biodegradable trays, according to the companies.

They claim Perfectseal offers a quick and effortless means of transitioning into film-sealed punnets and trays from clam shell or flow-wrapped packs.

Film sealed packs use less packaging than clam shell packs and are more space efficient for stacking and transportation resulting in cost savings, according to Australia's Perfect Automation.

"They also offer the ability to use packaging to create a stand-out pack on the shelf," the company said.

"Due to the versatility of the packaging available, you can rapidly create an eye-catching pack with colourful, custom-shaped trays and pre-printed branded film.

"Films can be supplied in a resealable specification to improve hygiene after opening and allow stacking of packs in the fridge.

"Films with micro perforations can also be used to allow produce to breathe, particularly when used with fresh-cut produce and modified atmosphere packs.

"In addition, use by dates can simply be printed onto the film at the point of sealing to simplify the packing process further."

The options for different tray materials include plastic (including biodegradable), board, foil and compostable board.

A key advantage of Perfectseal is that all packaging formats can be sealed on the same machine with minimal interruption to the packing line.

Switching from one tray or punnet shape to another and one printed film design to an alternative can be done in minutes.
