Organisers of Asia's biggest packaging trade fair and exhibition, Tokyo Pack, are planning to even further expand the show's next edition in 2014 following the success of this year's event.
The 24th edition of the biennial packaging show closed its doors last month having achieved strong growth in visitor and exhibitor numbers over its previous edition.
Registered visitor numbers hit 65,311, around five per cent up on 2010, while exhibitor numbers grew 8.9 per cent to 610.
Apart from the innovation on show at the booths, there were a number of special attractions this year: the Global Packaging Pavilion, Package Design Pavilion, and the Japan Good Packaging Pavilion including an exhibit of this year’s Japan Star winners, a creative display of the best of Japan’s innovative packaging designs and technology chosen by industry professionals.
Show organiser, the Japan Packaging Institute (JPI), said the success of this year's event exceeded all expectations, prompting them to put plans in place for an even bigger showcase when the show returns in 2014.
“Tokyo Pack 2012 has strengthened its position as the largest and most unique packaging show in Asia,” JPI said.
PKN attended this year's event as part a press mission consisting of more than 10 domestic and foreign specialised packaging editors and journalists from the International Packaging Press Organization (IPPO).
