A year of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of home-grown packaging solutions specialist tna reached its climax at the recent PACK EXPO show in Chicago when the Sydney-based company announced the winner of its global diamond hunt competition.

The company's co-founder, Alf Taylor, revealed the winner of the $A5000 diamond at a 'Cirque du tna' event during the giant packaging show in Chicago. The recipient of the gem was Jeff Miller of Bremner Food Group, a subsidiary of US-based Ralcorp, a specialist in private label products for the US retail market.

The diamond competition has been a year-long event using a variety of social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook to lead entrants on a global treasure hunt for the hidden gem (PKN, June 2012, p.26).

Designed as a celebratory 'thank you' to tna's customers, suppliers and staff, the diamond competition tasked entrants with building up points by taking part in a variety of tasks, quizzes and activities during the contest. Competitions ranged from 'Find the Diamond' on Twitter whereby entrants used a series of cryptic clues to decipher the diamond’s whereabouts around the globe, to photo caption contests on Facebook and other spot prizes.


tna's Taylor said tna's anniversary festivities had marked the company's tremendous growth since its foundation in Sydney in 1982, to becoming a global company with more than 6,000 systems installed across more than 120 countries.

“The packaging industry has changed a great deal since we founded tna 30 years ago. Although tna has also evolved over the years from innovators of the first VFFS [vertical form fill and seal] bagging systems, to a fully integrated, global packaging solutions provider, our core principles and our vision to provide the ultimate in food packaging solutions everywhere, remain the same,” he said.

“We’re delighted to be able to share our 30th anniversary celebrations with our customers, suppliers and staff. As a company, we’d like to extend our gratitude to everyone we’ve collaborated with over the years and who have contributed to making the last 30 years such a success.”

The federal government is conducting a review of the Horticulture Code of Conduct, following several difficult years for farmers and growers, with rapidly rising levels of dissatisfaction.
