Unilever has overseen the design of a carton which co-brands Aussie confectionery company Darrell Lea with Streets' Blue Ribbon ice cream.

The new flavours are Blue Ribbon Darrell Lea Peanut Brittle Crunch, which contains vanilla and salted caramel ice cream with peanut brittle, and Blue Ribbon Darrell Lea Coconut Rough Chips, which combines vanilla ice cream with coconut and chocolate.

“Unilever is responsible for the end-to-end new product development, from product formulation and packaging execution,” said a spokesperson for Unilever.

“In designing the pack, we really wanted to display the two company logos to drive familiarity with a simple design to communicate the partnership.

“Both Blue Ribbon and Darrell lea have such strong Australian heritage that we knew a co-branded tub would excite and delight consumers.

“It was important to showcase the key ingredients of ice cream and confectionery exploding together to ensure stand-out in the freezer and to drive mass appetite appeal.”

Unilever said the collaboration follows in the footsteps of its “wildly successful” launch of Blue Ribbon Golden Gaytime last year.

“The shift toward premium, indulgent offerings has manifested itself largely through a wider variety of flavours,” Streets Ice Cream marketing director Anthony Toovey said.
