DuPont's 2017 Awards for Packaging Innovation recognised several global breakthroughs, including a recyclable packaging material from Kuraray Plantic Technologies.

Kuraray Plantic was given a diamond award for Plantic R, an ultra high barrier renewable and recyclable packaging material.

Amcor also received a gold award in the Technological Advancement and Responsible Packaging categories for its Vento coffee packaging; silver for the 20-ounce Vitaminwater bottle in the Responsible Packaging category; and – in partnership with Crown Holdings Inc. – a gold award for Peelfit in the Technological Advancement and Responsible Packaging categories.

This year’s Diamond Award, the highest honour, was awarded to the Fritz Water Vest, which allows people in developing countries to carry up to 20 pounds of water easily and safely.

The vest is antimicrobial, ergonomic and reusable.

Other winning solutions included novel food storage, fermenting food products, premium beauty products, and new packaging materials to target millennials.

An independent panel of packaging experts evaluated nearly 150 entries from 24 countries and recognised those that excel in the categories of technological advancement, responsible packaging and enhanced user experience.
