Pact Group has been given the 2015 World Dairy Innovation Award for the Murray Goulburn Flip Top Cream Cap.

Also known as the Easy Pour and Seal Lid, it was the clear winner in the Best Dairy Packaging Innovation category.

Developed over 12 months by Pact Group, the hinged cream cap is one of the first packaging innovations within the cream category to be recognised for many years, according to general manager Greg Beilby.

“We're delighted to win this category this year, having been placed as a finalist last year with our Light Proof bottle,” he said.

The cap was designed to enhance the consumer experience of opening, pouring and resealing cream containers in a more easy-to-use and hygienic way. It also eliminated the tear strip commonly used on other cream containers which can be difficult to open and problematic when pouring. Murray Goulburn was the first to adopt the technology, launching it under its Devondale brand.

Pact Group was recently listed by BRW as one of Australia’s most innovative companies for the past two years, and won a World Star award for its light-proof milk bottle earlier this year.

The World Dairy Innovation Awards are held annually by FoodBev Media at the Global Dairy Congress in Amsterdam. Designed to acknowledge excellence and innovation in dairy, the awards received over 200 nominations from more than 30 countries this year.
