Equipment hire and service provider Packserv has opened up its new facility in Cheltenham, Melbourne, to serve its thriving Victorian customer base.

Lee Major, Victoria general manager, came on board with Packserv to help get the Melbourne office up and running. “We’re aiming to replicate the Sydney operation, which has been going for 12 years,” he said.

“We’re now completely stocked down here, we’ve got technical services set up, our support people on the road in vans, and our full range of equipment.”

According to Major, Packserv owner Nathan Wardell has been looking to set up a permanent facility in Melbourne for some time.

“We’ve been servicing Victorian customers out of the Sydney office, meaning equipment has been crated up and shipped down, but we had no support on the ground,” said Major.

Packserv specialises in leasing equipment for filling, capping, labelling, printing, coding and marking, induction and tube sealing.

“Having a local facility means we can distribute from Melbourne, and the equipment can go out with a technician for installation and training.”

Now that the twelve-month setup period is over, Packserv Victoria will expand its equipment range and take on new staff. Major is pleased with the progress the company has made in reaching this point, and says customers are as well.

“We’ve kept it reasonably quiet to give ourselves a chance to get up and running, but when people find out we’re in Victoria they’re over the moon. It takes a lot of the risk out of the hire if they know they’ve got local support,” he said.
