Although the recycling streams are not yet in place for total pack recycling of lid-and-tray pack formats, when the infrastructure is available, Amcor Flexibles has the mono-material pack solution ready.

At interpack’s innovationparc pavilion, Amcor Flexibles showcased its newly launched N-Gage, a proprietary range of high barrier, peelable lidding films which seal directly onto APET trays.

This is positioned as an attractive alternative to traditional PE sealing technology for packaging fresh products like processed meat slices. Suitable for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), the film runs on all thermo-forming lines with minimal changes.

The PET sealant improves tainting barrier compared to standard PE structures.

Ten per cent lighter than current films, N-Gage offers equivalent high performance and tangible cost savings for manufacturers in change-over time, waste, transport and, in the European context, Green Dot charges.

The film is available in opaque white or transparent.
