Melbourne-based packaging and processing specialist Splatt Engineering has signed a partnership deal with Italian company PE Labellers, which has decided to add Australia to its growing global footprint.

PE Labellers’ methodology is to establish a global presence for its product and customer base with local support from partners who have extensive knowledge of the local market.

“Global presence and a quick after sales service response is the key factor in business nowadays. The demand to have a knowledgeable local partner, an after-sales service centre in the region and quick and easy relationship contacts in the world led us to evaluate which partner we would need and in which specific country we want to develop,” Luca Carollo, sales director at PE Labellers, said.

“Country-wise, after market evaluation and an economy development study, we decided to expand our presence in Australia and New Zealand. Geographically the region is far away from our closest youngest subsidiary located in Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia," Carollo added.

“Economically, it’s definitely the market with robust growth and with good possibilities for expansion of our technical solutions in both rotary labeller and sleever technology segments.”

PE Labellers has chosen to pursue collaboration with an Australian company closest to its own set up, organisational and service capabilities: Splatt Engineering, an Australian family company with a 40-year history in the packaging industry.

PE Labellers said it selected Splatt because its customers include important companies in the Australasia market, and its operation is organised to service complete lines as well as single machine integration.

Through the partnership agreement between PE Labellers and Splatt Engineering, the plan is to establish a local spare parts storage for PE equipment parts at the Melbourne headquarters.
