On January 15, Mark Easton, sales and marketing manager at label printer Impresstik, introduced himself as LATMA’s president for the 2015/16 term. The new board was elected at the LATMA AGM in Melbourne shortly before Christmas, when Allan Dabscheck was applauded for his major contributions while he was president.

Dabscheck has served in various Latma leadership positions for more than 20 years. He became Victorian vice president and conference chairman in 1991 and was national president for the first time from 1995 to 1997. He was inducted into the Victorian Printing Industry Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Latma Hall of Fame in 2003.

The incoming board is made up of:

OFFICERS

Mark Easton: President

Peter Holywell: Vice president

Mr Lindsay Boyd: Treasurer

John Leathart: General director

Allan Dabscheck: Past president and apprenticeship development

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Frank Gravilos: Committee member (ANZFTA steering committee contact)

Tania Mathias: Committee member (Liaison & young managers)

Daniela Walker: Committee member (Events NSW)

Darren Milligan: Committee member (marketing and communications)

Easton’s announcement continued, “From Allan's efforts and the mandate given at our 2014 Conference we are progressively moving the association forward from discussions with ANZFTA (Australia New Zealand Flexographic Technical Association) for a future and potential merger of the two organizations.

“This will bring great benefit to both memberships with increased footprint in industry involvement, overcome duplication of memberships for converters and suppliers on both associations and offer larger and more time beneficial events and functions for you the members.

A new association charter is being drafted, which will be reviewed by both boards for final draft release to LATMA members within a few months. There will be a committee with even expertise from both relevant label and packaging sectors. Life memberships, Hall Of Fame and events such as Label Awards will continue.

The LATMA 2014 Label Awards night dinner will be held in Melbourne on 26 March 2015 at the Melbourne Aquarium. It coincides this year with AUSPACK, which gives LATMA members the opportunity to attend both events.
