A three-day event with the aim of bringing together packaging and processing suppliers from the Queensland region will be held next month.

FoodTech Qld will run from 26-28 June at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, with a line-up of interactive sessions covering trending topics and key issues.

Over 120 exhibitors have already booked for the event, and organisers say there has been “keen interest” from businesses in Queensland and Northern NSW.

Key players in the packaging industry, such as MOSCA and Ulma Packaging, will be attending to showcase new developments and innovations.

Ulma Packaging has been working on applications which optimise the useful life of the packaged product, as well as improve the process value chain and reduce the volume of waste associated with damaged goods.

Seminar topics include the importance of pH in food management, the issue of energy efficiency, industry technology developments on infrastructure, and the increasing demand for food traceability across both industry and consumers.

There will also be a session led by enterprise resource planner Syspro on the Industrial Internet of Things and its impact on machines, customers and suppliers.

Over 3000 visitors are expected to attend.

Other seminars will be held by Mintel (on 2016 Mintel food and drink trends), Sealed Air (on next-generation case-ready protein packaging) and SICK (on real traceability that delivers security), as well as many others from the food manufacturing industry.
