A talented graphic designer from Newcastle, NSW, has had his design for a new box for Domino's pizzas grace the fast food chain's stores across Australia after winning a national Facebook competition.

Ben Peeters' bright red box design is now available in Domino's stores across Australia as part of the pizza chain's use of social media  to engage with pizza fans.

As well as seeing his graphic efforts used to package pizzas, Peeters also won $1000 and  was flown to the board packaging plant of packaging giant Visy in Yatala, Queensland, to see the first batch of boxes featuring his design fly off the printing press and onto pallets before being transported to Domino’s stores across the country.

His design features the company’s new logo and a fun print entwined with words he said he associated with the fast food company such as Australian, fresh, value, choice, puff and burst.

Domino’s online marketing manager, Michael Gillespie, said the competition was part of the company’s passion for connecting with its fans.

“When we launched the Design a Pizza Box competition we were hoping to give our Facebook fans a way to tell us how they saw Domino’s, while also giving the winner the opportunity to have their artwork seen across the country,” he said.

“We were all blown away by Ben’s design and are looking forward to bringing it to life in our stores.

“The social media environment gives us a great opportunity to really find out what our fans want from us, and to get them involved in all aspects of our business.”

Other recent Domino’s social media promotions and competitions include allowing
fans to design and name a pizza that still features on the Domino’s menu, the Fan Favourite.
