Touchpoint packaging will be a hot topic at drupa 2016, which launches today.

About 30 exhibitors and cooperation partners, as well as industry representatives, brand owners such as Nestlé, and design and communication agencies, will present current and future trends in the form of lectures, panel discussions or workshops.

The Touchpoint packaging forum will address the entire world of packaging, from technical/ functional requirements through to economy and efficiency as well as substrates and technologies used.

This exhibition area is arranged into four 'future labs' targeting the vertical markets of food, non-food, pharma and cosmetics.

Exhibitors will present their best-practice cases and product highlights, and there will be also be over 70 presentations, lectures and panel discussions.

British future researcher Cate Trotter will speak on 3 June about trends impacting society over the coming two decades, and how the printing and packaging industries can counter these challenges.

The exhibition will also specifically target young designers, who have entered a competition on the future of packaging.

The brief for students was to design a poster and/or packaging design for the segments food, non-food, pharma and cosmetics.

The nominated works will be exhibited at drupa, and the winner will be recognised at an award ceremony on 8 June.
