A forensic covert tracer developed by tracing technology specialist YPB Group will be added to the Australian Made logo to protect against counterfeiters as beauty product manufacturer Australasian Analytical Laboratories (AAL) enters the Chinese market.

YPB’s tracer has been added directly into the ink of the Australian Made logo on the products manufactured by AAL, which have also been imported into the Scandinavian market.

An initial trial production run incorporating YPB’s tracer has been completed, and AAL estimates it will export more than 100,000 units to China in the first 12 months.

The technology has received the support of The Australian Made Campaign, with whom AAL registered as part of its new effort to sell to the Chinese market.

The tracer consists of a clear, inorganic compound which can only be detected and verified with a matching handheld scanner.

It is inconspicuous and once applied cannot be removed, destroyed or copied.

With the middle class across Asia now numbered at approximately 800 million, this represents a growth market for Australian companies, especially those producing Australian Made certified products.

YPB executive chairman John Houston said high demand made trusted brands subject to counterfeit.

These solutions can be tailored to protect any brand’s products, allowing brand owners to connect with their customers around product authenticity.

YPB’s forensic covert marker technology can also be integrated into manufacturing processes to merge with product, print or packaging before or after production.
