Rekorderlig has voluntarily withdrawn its Cocktail Cans from shelves after discovering an issue with the cans.

The issue has the potential to compromise product quality and relates to all stock of 250ml canned Rekorderlig Cider Cocktails only, according to brand owner Abro.

A small manufacturing defect in the cans has resulted in some non-harmful, off-flavours being detected in some drinks, according to the company.

The product, however, does not pose an allergen or broader health risk, Abro said.

“Rekorderlig has a reputation for quality and consumer experience, it is therefore of paramount importance to us that whilst this poses no health risk to consumers, we have made the decision to temporarily withdraw Rekorderlig Cocktail Cans from sale,” Henrik Dunge, CEO AB Åbro Bryggeri, said.

Customers on Rekorderlig’s Facebook page were quick to call out the “unpleasant smell”.

One person said: “So not sure if this drink (Passionfruit Cider Cocktail) is meant to taste like 29-year-old boat fuel but it's horrible. It's such a shame because I love Rekorderlig Cider, however this is such a let down. I'm not sure if it's off or a bad batch but hopefully you guys can improve the taste. Meanwhile I'll just have to drink the Wildberry Cider Cocktail.”

All retailers are being asked to withdraw all Rekorderlig cider cocktail cans from shelves and await replacement stock.

No other Rekorderlig products are affected.
