Bosch has firmed up its investment in food and confectionery with the acquisition of US packaging machinery manufacturer Kliklok-Woodman Corporation.

Kliklok-Woodman develops, manufactures and markets secondary packaging machinery such as end-load cartoners and top-load erectors and closers, and primary packaging machinery such as vertical form, fill, and seal machines. In 2014, the company sold close to $US65 million through its packaging of goods such as pastries and confectionery, frozen food, and dairy products.

CEO Bill Crist said the partnership would benefit those who valued single-source systems responsibility and desired variety in their flexible packaging formats.

Bosch Packaging Technology president Friedbert Klefenz said the acquisition was an important step on the road to fulfilling the company's PA 2020 growth strategy.

“The expansion of market share in growth regions, the development of new business fields, and the enlargement of the portfolio to enter new segments of the food industry are central to this strategy,” he said.

This is the third in a string of acquisitions by Bosch in recent years. It purchased Ampack (Germany) in 2012 and Osgood Industries (US) this year. As a result, the company offers cup and bottle filling machines for liquid food products, and has strengthened its market presence in the North American food packaging industry.

Bosch Packaging is represented in Australia by Nupac.
