The NSW packaging industry has been asking for more access to local converting so BJ Ball has kicked off the year with a new twin knife sheeter capable of converting our full range of packaging grades such as Tambrite, Formakote, Hi Q, Incada Silk and IP Everest.

The new machine will be housed at BJ Ball’s Prospect facility and is set for commissioning early March 2015.

Brad Partington, sales executive packaging, commented, “This will provide many of our national and Sydney converters and manufacturers the confidence required, knowing local converting facilities are now part of the BJ Ball market offering.”

Andrew Lees, national converting manager, added, “We are delighted to be able to expand our national service offering in line with the growing customer packaging board requirements.”

In New Zealand, BJ Ball Papers and PrintNZ are gearing up to repeat their successful 2014 breast cancer research fundraising initiative, when they host a Pink Breakfast in Auckland on 18 February.

Ruth Cobb, general manager PrintNZ, announced, “We welcome both men and women to this event. The mainland printers, their staff, creatives, and their clients have shown how we can combine to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. Now it’s Auckland’s turn.”

The sell-out Christchurch Pink Breakfast in October raised $1500. Auckland’s will be held at the Sorrento in the Park in One Tree Hill.

Everyone who attends is encouraged to wear something pink. This is a gesture of solidarity first and a competition second. There is a special prize for the pink outfit that stands out. As with previous breakfasts, the organisers will run raffles and sell merchandise to raise funds for breast cancer research.

“The Pink Breakfast also offers an opportunity for print industry members to get together. It’s a great way to start the day and to kick off the year,” Cobb noted.
