Sydney bioplastics specialist BioPak has created a gallery of Australian art to decorate a new range of its disposable coffee BioCups.

The company has engaged six Australian artists who explore environmental themes in their works to bring a splash of colour to its BioCup Art Series range of certified carbon-neutral coffee cups.

Available nationally through BioPak and its distribution parters, all cups in the range are made from material sourced through managed plantations and lined with bioplastics made from plant-based renewable feedstock.

BioPak marketing manager, Adrianne Tasker, told PKN the new art-bedecked cups were created in response to customer requests for striking coffee containers to engage consumers.

“People come to us often and say they want something new to attract their end-customers, she said.

“We came up with this idea as a nice way for our customers to engage their clients.”

She said the hope was that the cups could become collectable items.

“This is the first range we have launched like this, but if people like them, we hope to continue to feature similar designs on our cups in the future.”

The cups will be sold mainly through food services outlets such as cafés and restaurants.

Featured art, and the creating artists, in the range include: Australian Dream, by Lily Rose Dambelli; Swimming in the Sky, by Jessica Bee; Coastline by Jennie Holtsbaum; Sustainability, by Mark Gerada; Brickworks, by Thomas Wilcox; and Acacia, by Annie Everingham.
