Amcor chose its moment well for the launch of the Amcor Community Program. On the day before ANZAC Day, Australia’s sense of community is being both remembered and encouraged.

The program has been set up to nurture and grow sustainable communities. This will be added to Amcor’s other sustainability initiatives, like the Amcor Earthwatch Fellowship Program.

Amcor will seek to form partnerships with leading international organisations who are like-minded about responsible packaging and helping people in need and will make community grants available to Amcor's global workforce.

Amcor co-workers can now apply for community grants to contribute to programs and initiatives that support the following causes:

1.     Protecting food: helping people access safe and nutritious food and reduce food waste, as the world's population grows and global food shortages increase;

2. Education: increasing awareness of the contribution responsible packaging makes to creating a more sustainable future;

3. Protecting the environment: supporting ways to reduce environmental impacts at work and in our communities to contribute to a healthy planet; and

4.Delivery of essential products and services: providing access to basic necessities, such as food, medicines and water to communities in need, particularly in times of crisis.

Ken MacKenzie, Amcor managing director and chief executive officer, stated, "We are proud of the positive contribution we make to the communities around the world where we operate. The Amcor Community Program builds on this and provides a fantastic opportunity for all co-workers, from across more than 40 countries, to access funding to take action and make a positive impact in their local communities.

“The outcome of Amcor's Community Program will result in healthier and more sustainable places for people to live and work - today and tomorrow. We are looking forward to reporting the outcomes of the Amcor Community Program in our annual Sustainability Report."
