Amcor Flexibles has been awarded three Alufoil Trophy awards from the annual competition organised by the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA).

In the Consumer Convenience category, the company won for a ready-to-eat cheese fondue pack it created with Ardagh Group.

Emmi’s All in One Fondü is an ovenable container system for pre-cooked meats.

The package delivers the cheese dip in a microwaveable metal bowl with an easy-peel opening made of aluminium foil.

The lid comprises Amcor Flexibles' AluFix Retort Pro membrane, which is part of Ardagh Group’s Easy Peel lid system.

Amcor Flexibles also scooped an award in the Resource Efficiency category for a new cold form blister product.

Formpack Ultra can be elongated more than standard cold form solutions, resulting in cavities that can be drawn deeper and with sharper wall angles than before.

Blister cards can be designed up to 50 per cent smaller, and more cavities can be added to the same blister card area.

And in Technical Innovation, Amcor Flexibles brought home accolades for a new alufoil overcap it created.

SoHappy is made from a special aluminium based material developed in-house by Amcor, and is aimed at the premium spirits market.

It competes with the traditional tin overcap used by the majority of European premium spirits brand owners, says the company.

It contains two layers of aluminium and incorporates an optimised tear band to facilitate opening.

The Alufoil Trophy competition celebrates the versatility and practical advantages of aluminium foil in packaging.
