Amcor has appointed Roelof Westerbeek to the role of president of Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific.

Commencing on 15 March, Westerbeek will be based in Singapore. He replaces Ralf Wunderlich, who served as president for six years.

Westerbeek joins Amcor from Royal DSM, where he has held a number of leadership positions over 27 years.

He previously served as president of global business DSM Engineering Plastics, which supplies solutions and materials to the automotive, electronics and food packaging industries.

During his career at DSM, Westerbeek worked and lived in Asia for 15 years.

Managing director and CEO Ron Delia said Westerbeek has overseen the development of greenfield projects and has a track record of delivering organic growth through innovation.

Delia praised the contributions Wunderlich made in his time with Amcor.

“Ralf Wunderlich made an outstanding contribution to Amcor since joining the company in 2010,” he said.

“Under his leadership, sales in the Flexibles Asia Pacific business have grown from US$450 million to US$1.2 billion, and the regional footprint has expanded to 40 plants across eight countries.

“His contribution to Amcor’s global management team during a very successful period in the company’s history has been considerable and will be missed."
