Jamestrong has started installing a new infant formula can line to meet consumer demand.

The $8 million investment follows the company’s recent $13 million investment in a KBA Metal Star 3 metal printer to boost its nutrition and aerosol businesses in the APAC region.

The new positive air pressure enclosed can line has been specified to meet current and future requirements of the infant formula category.

It will be located adjacent to the company's manufacturing plant in Kyabram, Victoria.

The line will be set up with formally zoned hygiene-controlled areas to meet food safety expectations and will be fitted with in-line leak testing, air rinsing of cans, and vision systems designed to allow comprehensive inspection for internal and external faults.

The project to install and commission the line is due for completion in June 2016.

It will be dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of infant formula cans, enabling optimum security of secondary packaging.
