UPM is positioning adhesives for specific end uses in label applications, with three product lines tailored to pharmaceutical, beverage and industrial environments.
UPM PharmaSure is intended for pharmaceutical packaging, where labels must withstand sterilisation cycles, cold-chain storage and application to small-diameter vials. UPM Vetro is designed for wine and spirits labels exposed to humidity, chilled conditions and ice bucket immersion, while UPM Endurance is aimed at oil and industrial chemical labelling, where substrates may face chemical exposure, mechanical strain and hot-fill conditions.
The products form part of the UPM Raflatac label material portfolio.
The company says demanding applications require adhesive performance beyond general-purpose solutions, with each sector carrying specific technical and regulatory requirements, as well as risks if labels fail.
UPM says the adhesives are supported by pre-assessed performance data and application documentation, intended to assist converters and brand owners with qualification and regulatory processes.
Christian Szameit, senior vice president, global markets at UPM Adhesive Materials, says adhesive selection is a key factor in these applications.
"With demanding label applications, adhesive selection is a critical decision. Our purpose-built adhesive solutions help our customers choose the right performance for their end-use."
