Schur Flexibles has taken out the 2018 German Packaging Award for sustainability, for its FlexiClose(re) film.

FlexiClose(re) is a recyclable and reclosable polyolefin-based film. According to Schur, unlike other top films, which are made of multilayer composites, FlexiClose(re) makes separating materials during the sorting process at a materials recovery facility simple.

“With the development of FlexiClose(re) Schur Flexibles has pioneered a product that optimises sustainability and the circular economy."

“It allows producers to be one step ahead of all upcoming recycling legislation as well as providing high levels of protection and attractive optics for point-of-sale product presentation.”

FlexiClose(re) is the latest addition to Schur’s FlexiClose range. According to the company, its sealing and functional layers are extruded in-house, meaning they can be tailored to individual customer requirements.

“They are not only ideal for cheeses and cold cuts of meat but also for dry foods, cereals, snacks or convenience products. In fact, they are ideal for any product that is not eaten after opening and needs to be resealed."
