Adhesive coatings company Herma has developed new technology for wet wipe packaging.

According to the company, the UV-reticulating acrylate contact adhesive 52C puts an end to clouding which can be triggered by oil and cleaning agents.

Dr Ulli Nägele, head of development at Herma, says the combination of properties the product offers is different.

“We're in a position to develop these characteristics thanks to the investments we've made recently in production technology for specialty products of this kind,” he says.

According to Herma, the semi-permanent UVA 52C has been developed primarily for the sealing labels applied to wet wipe pouches but it is suitable for both dry and moist surfaces.

It does not become cloudy in contact with oil, water, solvents or cleaning agents, so that the sealing label retains its appealing appearance.

In clear-on-clear applications, the adhesive remains highly transparent even after repeated peeling.

The adhesive resists the elastic forces encountered with curved surfaces, such as those often incorporated in the design of flexible packaging for wet wipes.

Herma products are avaiable in Australia from Result Group.
