Mondi has introduced Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible, a new high-performance kraft paper designed for coating applications in industrial and consumer packaging. The product offers a combination of high strength, extensibility, and puncture resistance, along with a calendered smooth surface for improved coating and printability.

Positioned between sack kraft and machine-finished grades, the paper has been engineered to serve as a base material for coated and heat-sealable packaging. Its surface ensures reliable coating adhesion and consistent print quality, making it well-suited to packaging applications requiring both durability and brand presentation.

Developed over three years by Mondi’s kraft paper team, the substrate is particularly effective in form-fill-seal (FFS) applications, including dry food, spare parts, toys, and building materials. It is made from responsibly sourced fresh fibres (FSC and is recyclable in EU paper recycling streams, verified by CEPI’s 4Evergreen protocol.

The new material runs efficiently on existing converting and filling lines and is intended to help converters meet technical performance and sustainability demands. Mondi says the paper also supports its barrier paper portfolio, where surface smoothness is critical for uniform coating.

The launch underlines Mondi’s focus on developing functional, recyclable alternatives for paper-based packaging.
