Coatings and sealants producer Actega DS has developed a type of TPE plastic which can be compounded with individual fragrances.

Made for use in consumer goods, it gives brands the opportunity to attribute their products with individual scents as part of their marketing campaign.

According to Actega DS, “additivation” can be realised using highly concentrated master batches of fragrances prior to processing in the extrusion or injection-molding machine, or in a separate dosing unit during processing.

The fragranced plastic can be used for a range of personal care, cosmetic, petcare, bathroom, and kitchen products.

In order to comply with customer requests for individual and optimal fragrancing, the company collaborates with a perfume oil producer which manufactures scented oils for applications involving contact with food as well as personal care.

The intensity of the scent can be determined individually by each customer.

Advantages of TPE, according to Actega DS, are its soft haptics, soft-grip applications, good sealing and adhesion features, and processability in cost-efficient multi-component injection moulding.

Months after announcing its exit from food science research, CSIRO has released a regional food system strategy for South East Queensland, calling for coordinated action on supply chains, land use, and food security ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A further $6.9 million has been allocated to five successful applicants through the federal Industry Growth Program (IGP), including several developing technologies to support the Australian food system. The latest round includes Bioborne, C Sea Solutions, Seascape Restorations Australia, and Levur.

Methane-reducing feed additive developer, Sea Forest, has entered into an agreement with New South Wales-based farm, Avondale Ag, to supplement 5000 cattle with SeaFeed, for an initial term of 12 months.
