Amcor is introducing a recycle-ready polypropylene (PP) dip cup and lidding range for condiments, dressings and sauces, targeting foodservice applications and responding to changing sustainability regulations and consumer demand.
The PP Revolution portfolio includes premade dip cup arrays designed to replace traditional polystyrene formats while remaining compatible with existing filling equipment, supporting what the company describes as a “seamless transition”. The range offers improved barrier properties and is available with its EZ Peel lidding portfolio, including metallised, foil and AmPrima recycle-ready options.
The dip cups are offered in 10 sizes, ranging from 0.5oz to 2.0oz, and are available in clear, white opaque and custom colours.
Sarah Paleg, sustainability director at Amcor Flexibles North America, said the platform is intended to support brands responding to regulatory changes. “PP Revolution is designed to help brands move forward as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements evolve,” she said. “Our PP Revolution platform is a recycle-ready solution that supports improved recyclability claims today and prepares our customers for the regulatory realities of tomorrow.”
Select sizes in the range are rated “Preferred” under the APR Design Guide for Size Sorting Potential, with How2Recycle prequalification available for some formats. According to the company, this can support recyclability claims and potential EPR fee outcomes.
Kevin Glaser, vice president and general manager, liquid at Amcor Flexibles North America, said the range addresses usability and sustainability considerations. “Today’s consumers expect packaging that’s easy to use, locks in freshness and is aligned with their sustainability values,” he said. “PP Revolution was designed to elevate the dip cup experience, from easy open lidding and portion-appropriate sizes to premium aesthetics, while helping brands move forward with recycle-ready packaging.”
The PP Revolution range expands Amcor’s portfolio of film technologies, which includes the PET Revolution barrier cup stock.
Aimee Johns, senior marketing manager, liquid at Amcor Flexibles North America, said the development supports the foodservice sector as it responds to regulatory change. “Amcor's innovations support the foodservice industry as it prepares for evolving regulatory requirements,” she said. “We're ready to help customers begin testing and scale up within as little as six weeks.”
The launch forms part of what the company describes as its approach to developing more sustainable packaging through material innovation and support for customers navigating regulatory requirements.
