UK-based primary packaging manufacturer Origin is expanding its European operations, building on the momentum generated by the launch of its Australian business in 2024 and reinforcing its international growth strategy.
The European expansion reflects rising demand from pharmaceutical, life sciences and controlled-substance markets for packaging partners capable of meeting complex regulatory requirements across multiple regions. Origin says the move is underpinned by the same compliance-first, people-led operating model that has shaped its early success in Australia.
Since entering the Australian market, Origin has recorded just over £1 million in revenue within its first year of operation, giving the business confidence that local customers are receptive to its products and approach. Managing director Michael McSorley told PKN growth has been driven not only by customer uptake, but also by expanding product adoption across accounts.
“We’ve been able to broaden our range with customers taking more than one product, which has allowed us to increase our stock holding in Australia,” McSorley said.
Interest has been particularly strong in controlled-substance packaging, where Origin is supporting Australian-based companies that are seeking to expand into Europe and the UK. McSorley said Origin’s international footprint has enabled it to support customers’ cross-border growth by supplying products directly or facilitating introductions in other regulated markets.
Origin operates globally under the banner One Origin. Infinite Expertise.,aligning its teams around shared standards, values and ways of working. At the centre of this is the company’s Infinite framework, which focuses on technical expertise in regulated sectors, consistent quality systems, and reliable, scalable supply chains.
For Australian customers, the company says this model provides reassurance that local service is backed by global capability. Origin Australia supplies packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and wellbeing sectors, drawing on more than 60 years of industry experience. With warehousing and logistics operations based locally, the business maintains stock on the ground to support fast delivery, reduce lead times and ensure continuity of supply.
The Australian product portfolio includes glass jars for dried medicinal cannabis flower, premium glass dropper bottles, secure dropper caps and oral syringes. In response to customer demand, Origin has expanded its range of medicinal cannabis jars and recently introduced a new jar size developed specifically for the Australian market.
Investment in local capability has also continued, with Origin increasing in-country inventory levels, securing office space for its Australian team and adding an additional staff member. These steps are aimed at supporting growth over the next 12 to 24 months as demand continues to build.
Origin will formally introduce its expanded European offering at Pharmapack Paris, where it will present its approach to supporting customers operating across multiple regulated markets with a consistent, low-risk model for quality and supply.
